Remember the days...

I was browsing around the mobile internet the other day but instead of it killing time it killed ME to see how mobile services still suck. Whatever happened to all the great ideas I've seen floating around the great hype? Whatever happened to those three golden criteria for making succesful mobile services:
- time based
- location based
- personalised

Okay, so everybody went bankrupt when the bubble bursted and WAP just wasn't what it set out to be. But that doesn't mean that the oldschool brands can get away with just copying desktop stuff to a mobile phone. Duh. Now wonder nobody uses it.

I still want that application that tells me where the nearby cash dispenser is...that knows that it's evening and provides me with the appropriate information...that knows that I like clubbing and doesn't tell me to go to Mo's Dinner...what kind of movies I like...who my friends are...which type of girl I like....and so on. And that at least allows me to bookmark interesting sites (Vodafone take a hint!).

So folks...let's do it. The time is right. Plenty of handsets out there and plenty of people just dying to kill time.
